From concept to completion our collaboration with the City of Carlsbad helped transform their aquatics program for the community.

SERVICES PROVIDED

THE CHALLENGE

The City of Carlsbad was faced with the demand of swimming programs that far exceeded the number of pools in the community. Community members were put on a two-year wait list to swim at a local pool.

The Solution

Aquatic Design Group worked extensively with City officials over many years to create an aquatics plan that achieved the city’s goal: provide a top-notch facility for Carlsbad that accommodates the demand and future growth of the community. In addition, the City desired a maintenance-friendly facility that was also environmentally sensitive. The use of solar panels and state-of-the-art controllers that change during the different seasons allow for maximum energy efficiency throughout the facility.

The Results

The Aquatic Center features a 56-meter competition pool (with diving boards and grandstand bleachers), a 25-yard x 12-lane instructional pool, a warm-water outdoor spa, and a “spray-ground” wet play area for children. This facility has helped alleviate the demand for swimming programs within the City of Carlsbad and gives the community an aquatic center they can experience throughout the year.
